Finally a new creation with the Lelo DOT! It’s been a while since Lelo released a real novelty! The last one was the Enigma, which was improved with the Enigma Cruise, but in the meantime, new versions have been released. Indeed, we reviewed the Sila and then the Sila Cruise (a novelty, but quite close to the Sona), then the Ina 3 and the Ina Wave 2, which are only improvements of the previous versions. But this time, the Lelo DOT is truly a new sextoy from Lelo! So, I say it is a novelty, but in reality, at first glance, I want to say that it is a stimulation that we have already seen!
Indeed, it looks like it resembles the Zumio SpiroPoint, the Zumio Caress or even the clitoral shaft of the Lovense Hyphy! However, to know if it is something similar or different, we will have to test it! Good news, we received it (it’s still more convenient to test it) and we’ll tell you about it! Want to discover the Pin-Point clitoral stimulator from Lelo? Here is our review of the Lelo DOT!
Lelo DOT packaging
Table of Contents
At Lelo, the packaging has not changed for a few years and it’s not bad! We find again a cardboard box, black and with a windowed part at the front to see the product without opening it. We also find the name of the product, written in golden letters. At the back of the box, we have a presentation of the product and its characteristics. Once we remove the two stickers, we can access the contents of this box.
There will be, of course, the Lelo DOT, installed in its mold, then a USB charging cable, but proprietary to Lelo, a satin storage pouch, a warranty card and a sample of Lelo lubricant. And we also have, according to the official website, a detailed instruction booklet, which is not there, since we have a leaflet telling us to download it from the Internet. And when you look at that booklet, it’s far from detailed.
This has been the case for several years now and I think it is a shame. Of course, less paper is good, but when it comes to a detailed booklet, I expect something other than 5 or 6 pages that don’t even explain the oscillating modes that we have with the DOT. That’s just the way it is, you have to deal with it.
Lelo DOT physical details
Well, shall we talk about its design? I must admit that I find it very ugly! Attention, it is only a question of taste, of course! But personally, I have trouble with its design, purely visual. Indeed, we have a very small tip on one side with a rather imposing part for the controls (in comparison) and a handle in which we can place two fingers to hold it in place. It is the same type of loop as on the Soraya 2 or Soraya Wave for example.
At the bottom of the Lelo DOT we have the slot for the charging cable and on the part where the handle is located we have 3 buttons that we know well, since, once again, it is a product of the Insigna range. Thus, we find controls with the double “infinity” symbol and a “+” button, a “-” button and a “Power” button. To clarify things a bit, even if I will talk about it later, the tip present at the end of the Lelo DOT bends and remains quite soft. In short, to me, the Lelo DOT looks like a funny snail when viewed from the side!
The size of the DOT
Although you can already see it in the picture above, the Lelo DOT is rather small! It measures 16.5 cm (6.49″) in total length, with a maximum width of 4.6 cm (1.81″) and a height of 6 cm (2.36″), especially at the control loop. The small tip is very fine, close to 0.5 cm (0.19″), in order to allow an unequalled precision on the area to be stimulated.
Other details
To tell you a little more, the Lelo DOT comes in three different colors! We have a Pink version, an Aqua version and a Lilac version. Which version did we get? Just look at the pictures to find out. But since we have readers who are visually impaired (Yes, we do), the version we received is the pink one!
Another point, the Lelo DOT weighs only 98 grams! That’s really light! To give you some comparison, the Sila cruise weighs 105 grams, the Enigma Cruise, 196 grams, the IDA Wave, 102 grams, the Gigi 2, 79 grams and the Ora 3, 117.5 grams. So it’s a little heavier than the Gigi 2, but below the other Lelo sex toys I mentioned above.
Lelo DOT materials
Now let’s talk about the materials that make up this Lelo DOT! Of course, we have silicone, premium, the same quality as other Lelo products. It’s a soft silicone, rather matte, hypoallergenic and phthalate free. For the rest, that is, the handle with its silver/gold effect, it is simply ABS plastic. In short, on this point, nothing to complain about, Lelo remains faithful to the quality of materials used.
Lelo DOT use
This is a new sextoy, which is used in much the same way as other Lelo products, except that here it is a rod that will stimulate your clitoris. It’s the same principle as the sextoys I mentioned at the beginning of this article. The principle of Lelo DOT is to stimulate your clitoris without numbing it by using a patented technology, “Infinite Loop”, which allows a constant movement of elliptical type with unmatched precision. We explain it all to you!
How to charge it?
It’s always the same way! As soon as your Lelo DOT arrives, the first thing to do is to charge it. It will take about 2 hours of charging time, once the charging cable is connected to the stimulator and the other side to a powered USB port or to an AC adapter. The LED on the DOT will pulse during charging. When charging is complete, the LED will glow steadily. And when the battery runs out of power, the LED will flash white to alert you.
In terms of autonomy, the DOT indicates a minimum of 2 hours of use, which is pretty good, since we have a 1:1 charging time/autonomy ratio. And finally, if you’re not using the DOT, its Stand-By mode allows it to stay charged for up to 90 days before the battery is completely drained.
How to handle it?
The Lelo DOT uses the control system from the Insigna range! So these are buttons that we have seen many times before! Here, to turn it on, you have to keep the “()” button pressed for 2 seconds. Then, to increase or decrease the intensity, you have to use respectively the buttons “+” and “-“. Then, to turn it off, you must keep the “()” button pressed for 2 seconds. Obviously, to change the oscillation modes, it is the “()” button, when the Lelo DOT is on, that will allow you to do so. Be careful, on arrival, the Lelo DOT is locked. Just plug in the charger to unlock this mode. And you can also press the “+” and “-” button at the same time for two seconds to reactivate or deactivate it again.
What are the oscillating modes?
Despite the fact that the Lelo DOT is a new sextoy, it’s not because of this that Lelo has decided to change the way it presents its modes! Honestly, it’s starting to piss me off a bit to see so little effort from a manufacturer like Lelo. So, I’ll explain what it says on their site! The Lelo DOT offers 8 vibration modes, with intensity ranging from a teasing whisper to a satisfying pulse. What does that mean? First of all, it’s not even vibrations, but oscillations! And again, the description is more than disappointing. As Lelo doesn’t make the effort to say more, we let you discover these modes by yourself. You should know that you can still find the usual modes of the Insigna range (including a constant mode of course).
Which lubricant to choose with ?
With its silicone shaft, if you want to use lube, you’ll have to choose one, water-based. Good news, even though Lelo doesn’t mention it, you get a sample of Lelo lubricant inside the box. That’s something. Next, you’ll need to find your own water-based lube. There’s really no shortage of that on the market!
How to clean it?
Being 100% waterproof, in addition to allowing you to use it under the shower for example, you can especially pass it under the tepid water, without any risk to deteriorate it. We advise you to rinse it, then to let it dry in the open air, the time necessary. And if you don’t like water marks, a little wipe with a soft cloth beforehand will be of great help.
Lelo DOT efficiency
Now we’ll tell you if the Lelo DOT is a bomb or not! First of all, you should know that its launch was done in “Teasing” mode, by blurring the image of the DOT to avoid leaking the information. It’s the first time I’ve seen this, but at the same time, even blurred, I already understood what the DOT looked like and what it offered as a stimulation. But now that we have it in our possession, we can really test it and tell you what we think! Of course, my dear and sweet Kitty was in charge of testing it and we’ll tell you what we think of it in the end. Here is our opinion on the Pin-Point clitoral stimulator by Lelo!
The handling of the DOT
We end up with a system that we know well, since it is the loop system to place two fingers and these are the buttons of the Insigna range. It is a system that works well, even if some people are not fans of the controls of the products of the Insigna range. But we can’t say that the grip is bad. On the contrary, you can hold it very easily in place, using your thumb to press the button without strain. On this point, Lelo does not deviate from the rule, the grip is not exemplary, but largely sufficient to use it easily, without twisting the wrist in all directions.
As for the area targeting part, the shaft is really thin and allows you to easily target the desired area. You can totally stimulate your nipples, the brake of the penis, the urethra, if that’s your thing and of course, your clitoris! On this point, the stem allows you to easily choose the place where you want to apply the stimulation. For example, just place it under the clitoral hood to get off quickly. However, the handle system is not really suitable for precise stimulation. I don’t mind running two fingers inside to hold it, but when doing so, it tends to be unstable. Kitty uses it by holding it on both sides of the handle, which is much more precise.
DOT oscillations
The Lelo DOT works by oscillations! It is the same principle as on the Zumio or, but to a lesser extent, the Hyphy from Lovense. Here, it is a little different from the usual vibrations, we find ourselves with a rod that oscillates from one side to another in a very fast way. It is its elliptical model that allows it not to numb the clitoris, in any case, much less than vibrations. Indeed, on vibrators or vibrating clitoral stimulation, it is a circular movement, which can numb your clitoris by the saturation of vibrations. Here, with its flexible, soft rod and its elliptical movement, we do not meet this phenomenon, which makes it possible to chain orgasms.
It is also a good sextoy for foreplay and especially for two! It is even almost an object of sexual torture if your partner is tied up and you have fun tickling her with the DOT rod. Kitty manages to have several orgasms, notably by contracting her pelvic floor following the first orgasm, the clitoris is not numb and one can relatively, easily reach a second orgasm, then a third. Everything will depend on you, the DOT does not do everything either.
Power and volume
As far as power is concerned, rest assured that the DOT has what it takes in terms of its motor! Especially since it is a precision stimulator, the stimulation is much more concentrated on one area than with a larger clitoral stimulator. There is no need to put pressure on your clitoris with it, it is much more interesting to brush it, to press lightly, then more strongly to mix the sensations.
You don’t even need to go to the highest intensity to cum. You can cum easily, even on a lower intensity level, it all depends on the placement of the rod and the moment you want to cum. It is a very interesting product according to Kitty, because you can mix the tip of the rod, but also use it horizontally to change the sensations. It’s really a sextoy that allows you to target a specific area and discover which one works best for you. Under the cap of your clitoris, you’ll be taking off in no time!
Announced as being at 60 dB maximum, we can say that the DOT fulfills its role well! Indeed, on the weakest intensity and without it being in contact with anything, this one generates 42 dB, which is really weak. And at the maximum, without contact either, I was able to obtain 63 dB. As soon as the point is in contact, in particular with the clitoris, the noise is muffled and one finds oneself on a range of 42 to 60 dB at most. It is not a completely silent sextoy, but it is not a noise machine either! It is in the right range according to us.
Lelo DOT final thoughts
When Kitty tells me that the DOT is very interesting and that she wants to play with it, alone, afterwards, it’s a good sign! You know, when you get a lot of sex toys, you have to make choices. Here, the DOT seems to have largely won Kitty’s praise. I have to say, it’s a nice surprise! Of course, we still have the concern of the budget needed, given that it is a Lelo sextoy. But, this time we have a real novelty and it’s much better than an improved version that sometimes doesn’t add much to the whole. Yes, it’s not very pretty in my opinion, but in terms of the stimulation it offers, it’s not a big deal. It is a great precision stimulator!
